Conservation Heroes Memorial Walkway
The Conservation Heroes Memorial Walkway honors those who have left behind a legacy of leadership and made a significant contribution to the preservation of our natural resources.
The Memorial Walkway features four remembrance areas; one area for each conservation organization that participated in the project; Monroe Chapter Ducks Unlimited, Pte. Mouillee Waterfowl Festival, Gibraltar Duck Hunters Association, and Waterfowl USA - Southwestern Lake Erie Chapter.
The Conservation Heroes Memorial Walkway was opened in September 2025. It was designed and built by Monroe Ducks Unlimited sponsor, Leonard Anteau, of L.A. Lawn and Landscaping. The Monroe Ducks Unlimited Chapter choose to open our area with four leaders who passed away in recent years: Dave “Big Dawg” Shefferly, Herb Krueger, Larry Bennet, and Pat Doran.
The Conservation Heroes Memorial Walkway is located at the Pte. Mouillee State Game Area, 37205 Pte. Mouillee Road, Brownstown, Michigan, and is open to the public year round.
